The word "Negrona" is a term of endearment. Cuban's mostly use it. I have also heard Puerto Ricans use it. The word is used toward any color women in an affectionate way.
If you're going to use it aggressively you would than say "Oye Negra" . An the black woman would answer with "Si chico que te pasa" . Another endearment is "Oye mi negro que tiempo ase que no te veo" . In most cases if you wish to insult a black person in Cuba you would need to insult the person and not the color. Example: attacking the mother, attacking the manhood, calling them perro [dog].
"Negrona" not used in Spain. The offensive word in Spain is "Negrata".
Negrona, negrita, negra, negrura, when used with a kind and friendly intonation are not considered pejorative in Spanish. The very same words, if pronounced with an aggressive tone, can change things around in a fraction of a second.
I hope this helps!
I am not able to find where Negrona is a spanish word..
I think that "Negrona" is more used in South America than in Spain. When I hear that, I always think about a coloured woman. But I am not sure if it has other uses. And "negrona" is a suffix for "negra". For that reason, it is possible you do not find it in the dictionary.
If I'm right,it can be used offensively, but not usually.Anyway,I don't think you are getting in trouble with this story.I'll search for your answer and if I get any response I'll post later.
For me... "negrona" sounds like: "Kinda black", it's not offensive, at least in Mexico...
