"Oyes unos pasos a tu espalda y te cambias de acera estúpidamente, el que te sigue es uno como tú, muerto de miedo, si fuese de otro modo de qué te serviría cruzar la calle y apretar el paso;" There is more to follow in this same sentence, yes it is a long one, but I understand that part. My attempt: "You hear some footsteps behind you and you stupidly change sidewalks, that follows you is one like you, dead with fear, as if another way would serve you to cross the street and hurry." Am I close?

Here´s my take

You hear some footsteps behind you and you stupidly change sidewalks. The person following you is just like you, scared to death, as if one way or another it would help to cross the road and quicken your pace.

Yes, that's it.

"The one who follows you...." is how I would say this part.

Hi Julian. I did know that but where I come from about .01% per cent would say that. - Eddy, Oct 18, 2010
