Pardon me for asking this, but what does hasta la vista mean exactly, and what does each individual word means?

Hasta = until
la vista = the view
Hasta la vista = (literally) until the (next) view
Hasta la vista = Until we see each other again
Or, at least, that is how I've always thought of it.
