How would you say "I swung the bat" as in swinging a baseball bat?

I've tried translators but I either get the verb "tomarse", "columpiar", or "hacer pivotar". When looking up the verb for "to swing" the best result I found was the verb "baloncear". Any suggestions on which would be the most appropriate?
