They are different things.

Cansado (cansada in femeninne) is an adjective: I'm tired = estoy cansado/a. I probably was working all day, or I did an effort, or I just feel like going to bed .

Sueño is a noun (masculine noun, by the way. You usually say "tengo sueño" (I'm tired), meaning you feel sleepy.
