Heh, "en la fabricación" doesn't really work. "En construcción" or "en progreso" is a better translation of "in the making". However in that context I'd skip that expression and say something like: "se ha empezado a convertir en leyenda". - bill1111, Oct 16, 2010
thanks for the corrections Billstpor, can't quite translate "se ha empazado .e.t.c."with any sense to me ,I have faith that you are right ,I have run it through the translator but can't quite make sense of it ..sorry ,can you give me a hint .muchas gracias - jennyo45, Oct 17, 2010

Note: This is purely something I found on the Internet which I hadn't heard of before. I don't know enough about it all to have a solid opinion!!

La leyenda negra española consiste en una serie de leyendas, manipulaciones y medias verdades sobre la historia de España.

The Spanish Black Legend consists of a series of legends, manipulations (distortions?) and half-truths about the history of Spain.

Good translation (except in the subject pronoun maybe), but as it often occurs with sayings, it would not be correctly understood in Spanish unless the listeners would know the English expression. - bill1111, Oct 16, 2010

Legend (1985) is the name of one of Tom Cruise's first movies. Tim Curry was the scariest devil that I have ever seen.

Two things. Uno refers to "películas", not "nombre", so it's feminine. And "asustadizo" means the opposite of "scary": skittish. "Aterrador" would be a fitting translation there - bill1111, Oct 16, 2010
¡Muchas gracias, Bill! I got the translation of "scary" from this dictionary -- I should have checked the RAE! - --Mariana--, Oct 16, 2010
Well, the problem is that in English scary can mean any of those things depending on the context, and in Spanish each onehas its own meaning. That's why unless you know what you are looking for, you can get the wrong translation in bilingual dictionaries - bill1111, Oct 16, 2010
That's Tim Curry? yikes! - amykay, Oct 16, 2010

"Leyenda" is usually the set of written explanations on a map, drawing, coin etc.. When you talk about a tombstone the correct word is "epitafio", ie: "El epitafio sobre la lápida está para el luto y el recuerdo - bill1111, Oct 16, 2010

It's hard to describe this rule (at least for me), but in this case you would say "mi arrogante jefe". If you say "mi jefe arrogante", it would imply that you have a number of bosses, and you add "arrogante" to specifiy which one you are talking about. - bill1111, Oct 16, 2010

Hi Amykay :) Conditional tense and se (she herself) will aparacer. Bloody Mary es una leyenda la que si dices su nombre tres veces en un espejo se aparecería. - MattM, Oct 16, 2010
Gracias. Es correcto ahora? - amykay, Oct 16, 2010
"bloody mary" can't be translated in Spanish I'm afraid; that name isn't used in Spanish culture (although the translation would be "María la ensangrentada" or "La sangrienta María) - bill1111, Oct 16, 2010
As for the sentence it would go like this: "María.." es una leyenda según la cual si dices su nombre tres veces delante de un espejo, se aparecerá" - bill1111, Oct 16, 2010
