I don't know. Why do we drive on the parkway and park on the driveway?

because it comes from pizarra (blackboard, chalkboard, slate) which is a particular kind of rock that was used to write on it (shale)

pizarrón ----> pizarra grande = big blackboard

pizza is Italian, and has probably nothing to do with the Spanish term pizarra

Now, you have probably coined a new term which means to eat pizza drinking ron rolleyes LOL

Well, I've often wondered why "infarto" doesn't mean passing gas.

How often do you wonder that? - 0074b507, Oct 15, 2010

'infarto' should mean trapped wind... - Richard-Thomas, Oct 15, 2010
"Colic"? :-] - Gekkosan, Oct 15, 2010
I wondered that, too. I'm glad Maria-Claire cleared that up. - KevinB, Oct 15, 2010

Pizza was already taken in Spanish. It means pizza. Blackboard is pizarrón, with one Z.

Hello Krisbee, welcome to the Forum. Please make sure that you write correctly, using proper capitalization and grammar when you post to the Forum.

Pizza is an Italian word, not Spanish. Look it up in Google, or Wikipedia; you'll learn interesting things!

Pizarrón comes from pizarra, the Spanish word for slate, which is the material that was used to make blackboards originally, way back when.

pizzaron doesn't mean anything. One of the correct words for chalkboard is pizarrón.
