How would I say "It amazed him"?

How would I say it (un aspecto) amazed him.. se queda atonito? o algo como asi..?

Well.. "estar asombrado" means "to be amazed", but only as the state of being amazed, which can last for some time after the initial reaction. The expression that you use to denote the very moment when you are amazed by something is "quedar asombrado" or "dejar asombrado".

In your original sentence I'd translate it as: "Su aspecto le dejó asombrado" or "Se quedó asombrado por su aspecto". Or you could also use "dejar atónito" or "quedarse atónito" if you prefer, though "atónito" has a different connotation, like getting petrified or astonished.
