cuales plus noun

Question

Is it OK to say 'cuales cosas' or 'cual informacion' in Latin America? It seems to be more common there than in Spain, where I understand it isn't correct, and that 'que cosas/informacion' would be used.

The best way to see how this works is to go to the current game where you have soooo many examples it makes your head hurt but you will learn a lot.

In the specific case of "cosas" and "información", it is more appropriate to use "qué", although people in their regular speech do use "cuál".

Very often you see that there is a RULE that says something like: "Thou Shall Not Use Cuál Before a Noun, Ever, Ever, Lest Thou Be Punished with a Bolt of Lightning from Heaven!!!"

That is absolute nonsense!

Don't take my word for it, though. The RAE says the following, in the Diccionario Panhispánico de Dudas:

Antepuesto a un sustantivo, funciona como adjetivo interrogativo. En ese caso equivale a qué (? qué), y su uso es mucho más frecuente en América que en España: «—Queremos ver a la muchacha. —¿Cuál muchacha?» (Fuentes Cristóbal [Méx. 1987]); «Oyó hablar a las primas con naturalidad de cuáles parejas de la familia seguían haciendo el amor» (GaMárquez Amor [Col. 1985]); «Sabía de cuál imbécil me estaba hablando» (Grandes Edades [Esp. 1989]).
