So, late last night I got home from my trip to Nicaragua.
Let me just say, Nicaragua was extraordinarily beautiful!
I was amazed at how tranquil the town I visited was.
Everyone I talked to said I should be ready to be shocked by the poverty. Actually, it just made me appreciate everything I have. Those people seemed content with their life, though.
They get to wake up & go to the beach and sell things they hand-made. Drink a cold Victoria (national beer), sitting up next to the HUGE statue of Jesus, &/or lounging on the beach. It is amazingly cheap there, too!
I just wanted to brief everyone on my trip![]()

I felt the same when I went to Costa Rica. It's just a different kind of happiness that we seem to lack here in the states. They just, are, you know? it really opens your eyes. I'm going back in a few months!
¡PURA VIDA!
Iv'e zip-lined in the rain forest, ATV'd in the mountains, bungee jumped into the ocean, sky dived, & a lot more, in both Costa Rica & Nicaragua.
Living in CR, it is easy to just get up and go ATV or Sky Dive, but it is a lot funner in Nicaragua when on Vacation.
I loved this restaurant that had fresh langosta ![]()
*The monkey was drinking a beer and came to me and poured some on my lap. I laughed. Although I smelled like beer, it was okay. Funny thing: the guys at the bar all thought they were going to get lucky that night. They all were flirting and everything. Was all very funny.**
Your trip sounds absolutely amazing! I am starting to feel the travel bug.
Can you tell us more about the strange encounter with the monkey? That must have been fun!
Did you enjoy the food there and did you have a favorite meal while you were there?
I was invited to go along with my sister to Costa Rica in a month but I cannot work out the time off. I would have loved to zip line in the Rain Forest. Have you done it?
Welcome home!
It sounds like you had a great time.
Did you get a chance to use your Spanish?
Welcome back! I am glad you made it home safely and that you had a great time. Yes, I'm envious but as I do with many people, I live vicariously through them!! ![]()
Do you have a link for the photos? It sounds like a wonderful trip! I'd like to learn more!

Welcome back!!!!
What great news!
You might enjoy reading "Allí donde el mar recuerda", by Sandra Benítez. I believe it is also available in English. The book is a wonderful portrayal of a small village close to the sea (western coast of Mexico). Just as you pointed out, the people are not rich in material goods, but there is a joy of life coupled with the usual human tragedies.
That sounds like a really nice trip princessjane! I wish I could go on a trip like that.
We're glad you made it back safely.
Welcome back!
