entorno

I am not sure if I quite get the use of entorno in this passage (entire paragraph included for context). I am translating the first sentence as:

Rudy Fenandez's surroundings continue making efforts to "fix" the guard's situation in Portland.

I would prefer to translate it as: retinue (followers)/surrounding people

I cannot find that usage in any of the dictionary entries I looked at. Is it fair to interpret it this way, or am I just missing the meaning of the sentence.

El entorno de Rudy Fernández sigue haciendo esfuerzos por desencallar la situación del escolta en Portland. Su agente español, Gerard Darnés, reiteró en una radio local estadounidense el deseo del jugador de regresar a Europa. “Rudy desea irse a casa. Su situación personal ha empeorado. Hay cosas que no puedo contar, asuntos personales que han empeorado”, explicó en el programa ‘95.5 FM’s Morning Sports Page’.

retinue sounds fine to me. check entourage also. definitely sorroundings does not mean the manager, familiy, friends and all the people who is interested in Rudy´s career and financial success.

para desencallar la situación. how about to put the situation back in the right track?

Tthanks, I think put the situation back on the right track conveys the same meaning as "fix" in nicer words to me - Stadt, Oct 11, 2010
Also, entourage is a much better choice in English for what I was looking for. - Stadt, Oct 11, 2010
Hm, I'm not so sure to be honest. To me, "entorno" means all the people who are close to a person. That includes his staff yes, but also his family and closest friends. - bill1111, Oct 11, 2010
My question was at a more basic level, the dictionary entries do not give a meaning that implies people, and I just wanted to be sure I could apply the term to people. - Stadt, Oct 11, 2010
