"Volar en picado" means to make a nosedive, but only when flying a plane. If you want to refer to something other than flying you have to change "volar" with "caer".

Primer, no estoy seguro que signifique esta frase. Pero, si lo comprendiera correctamente, signficaria algo como "submirgio profundamente en algo", como un libro.
In this case, we would say "to dive into something", "I dove into that book", or, more colloquially, "I really got into that book". Examples in the past seem to make more sense.
