Se tarda mucho tiempo. smile

You can also type your sentence into the 'Translate' box at the top of this page and you can usually get a pretty good result. But feel free to run anything by us once you've done that, just to make sure smile

In your sentence, the English verb "to take" means "to require". Here in the Chambers Harrap, the sixth definition give for "take" is for that meaning: requerir

6 requerir (require) (effort, dedication, strength)

* it took four of us to carry him -> hicimos falta cuatro para llevarlo
* it takes courage to… -> hace falta valor para…
* how long does it take? -> ¿cuánto tiempo lleva?
* learning a language takes a long time -> aprender un idioma lleva mucho tiempo

* it took me an hour to get here -> **tardé una hora en llegar**
* that will take some explaining -> eso va a ser complicado de explicar

Another way of saying "it takes (a long) time.." is "lleva (mucho) tiempo".
