was killed
Hola,
¿Cómo traducir "The demon was killed by the Lord"
"El demonio por el Señor"
¿Cómo podía conjugar este verbo?
Gracias, Rosita

I'd go with fue matado since it's a permanent act, but I'm not sure so wait for a native.
I recently came across this similar problem in on of my review books. In the multiple choice section i chose "fue matado" but the answer key said that it should be " fue muerto." It's difficult for me to explain why but basically the past participle of matar is rarely used and the past participle of morir is used instead. It doesn't make too much sense to me so hopefully someone can give a little more of a grammatical explanation.
Personally, I wouldn't use "matado" as in passive voice it sounds a bit werid. I mean, it not unsual to say "alguien ha matado a alguien", but it is to say "alguien fue matado por alguien".
It's quite common to change the verb and say "asesinado" (although not in this context: the Lord doesn't asesina).
I'd suggest you to avoid the passive voice and say "el Señor mató al demonio" or "el Señor acabó con él demonio" or "el Señor le dio muerte al demonio"...
