Ways to say come off or the equivalent. I think "sonar como". No quierio sonar como un grosero. Or maybe, no quiero parecer grosero. Can anyone think of other ways? Gracias.

"No quiero parecer grosero" is perfect.

Is sonar totally wrong, or just unusual? Gracias. - jeezzle, Oct 6, 2010
You *could* say: "No quiero sonar grosero"; but not "sonar como grosero". - Gekkosan, Oct 7, 2010

For another one, even, 'dar la impresión' No quiero darte la impresión ...

I agree with Gekkosan and Margaret. To me "sonar" means "sound" as in "making a sound", like ringing a bell, or playing a musical instrument.

What about "me suena bien" and "eso suena perfecto" I hear it like that constantly - jeezzle, Oct 6, 2010
Yes, you're right, of course. I don't know how to explain the difference. I guess it's just more common to say, "I don't mean to appear rude" than it is to say, "I don't mean to sound rude". - KevinB, Oct 6, 2010
