Could it be that in the recall section of the lessons, the sound is missing in one or two questions? That has happened to me few times. As a result, one loses points!

It hapens in the Listen section in more than one or two questions. The way around this is to guess and pick of the remaining answers..! - sv2qp, Oct 8, 2010
this is what I do! It's challenging, though. :) - NancyGrace, Mar 9, 2011

Cosmo I am a beginner too and although I can relate to how hard it is to understand Spanish when it is spoken fast, that's the way they speak. I think if you concentrate on building up your vocabulary then you will be able to pick out a spoken word here and there and start picking up entire sentences.

Now this is my own theory, so if Heidita or someone wants to jump in and correct me, please do so, but I think when we talk we do not listen to each word so much as we understand the whole sentence or phrase and I think that is the way it is in any language. If the Spanish is slowed down then it is really not Spanish anymore.

I have also seen you have not tried our lessons, so please do have a look herewink

Most of the lessons I hear, the Spanish speaker talks very fast. No reason to speak like a machine gun, but they do. When I speak to a non-native English speaker I speak slowly. I do not get the same consideration. Any one know of a site that builds you up instead of frustrating you or start you out with basic 101?

If you explain exactly what you are doing, perhaps somebody can understand your problem better, and help. Gracias.

Bienvenido al foro, I'm not sure I have the answer to your question, but you need to correct your statement in the heading. It should read "Why can I not hear the Spanish?"
