I did a Google search for this term (being sure to enclose all 3 words within the same brackets, thus "comer el hueso")

I found that it means several things such as references to dogs chewing on bones, humans eating the stones or pits of fruit, and maybe a couple of others. One said something about spare ribs so good that you could even eat the bone.

I also found a reference to the term that would make your mother or grandmother blush. If I were you, rather than show up for class, I would go to the gym, workout, and then tell your class you broke a leg and cannot attend. Let some other poor dupe try to explain the vulgar sense of the term.

If you must know what I am referring to, you must do your own rather lenghty Google search. Trust me the usage is "XXX" rated. Since this is a family oriented web site, I will not provide any more information than that. Are you sure someone is not trying to make mischief at your expense?? Explain to a class, never!!

I don't understand? I've been told it has a meaning that is obviously not what I'm looking for, but I am supposed to explain this phrase to my spanish conversation class... Could it be similiar to the expression, bite the bullet in English?
