Flashcards for learning English
Hi, I've been using the flashcards a lot for learning Spanish and found them really useful. I was explaining the system to a Spanish friend who is learning English. Obviously it's more useful for him to hear the English side of the flashcard than the Spanish.
Is it possible to design the flashcards so that the English words is spoken, rather than the Spanish word?
Thanks for your help.

Ralf,
When my SpanishDict is in Spanish mode...you do this by clicking "en español" at the top right of this screen....the flashcards will all play in reverse. That is, the English word will be spoken instead of the Spanish word.
Give it a try with any set of flashcards.
That is a great question! Actually, you can hear any of the flashcards in reverse by going to the bottom and clicking on "options". You will see a pop-up menu which gives you the option to "flip terms". Choose that and you will be able to hear any of the flashcards already created or any that you create in the future, in reverse. ![]()
HI Ralf, I am an English teacher, my flashcards are all designed for students of English rather than for students of Spanish, look for those that have a name on them or Calasancio (that is a school), or "challenge" the book they are using, all of them are very good to learn English![]()
Marianne, I've tried it...that's perfect! Exactly what I was looking for!
@ Gocika, Yes thank you for suggesting those links, it was just that I was wondering whether it was possible to create your own flashcards that recalled the English words.
@ Nicole. Thanks for your suggestion... I'm not sure how useful that'll be. It's hard enough for Spanish speakers to imitate English speakers as it is. (no offence intended)
@ Heidita, Thanks for the links to your cards, I will check them out.
You will be able to hear the English words only by creating your own. I just tested this. You will need to put all of the English words in the Spanish column and the Spanish words in the English column.
During the "Listen" section, I did hear the English words played back. However, it is with a very thick Spanish accent, so you have to be careful. You are not going to hear the authentic English pronunciations, but it is a start.
Hopefully, someone else will be able to suggest something that can help you better. ![]()
Isn't this English?!

Ralf, that's exactly what you get with the links I gave you above. How come you haven't checked them?! ![]()
Hi Nicole, Thanks for your response. I've tried doing that, and though the order is reversed, you still only hear the Spanish word, there doesn't seem to be an option that enables you to hear the English word, that's what I'd really like to be able to do.
