Is this some kind of idiomatic or slang impression?

That would be "sale" (no reflexive) - LoaEtayo, Oct 3, 2010

It is impossible to explain what it means without a context, since it that "se" can mean different things depending on how it is used, and "sale" has several possible meanings. Give us a sentence, not a couple of isolated words.

The words, in any case, are used in standard Spanish all the time. Nothing idiomatic.

All the advertisement says is 'se sale' - nothing more. I just wondered if anyone could hazard a guess as to what this would mean in terms of advertising the paper. - dave_b73, Oct 3, 2010

When something se sale means that it's extremely cool, that it's awesome.

It's out of context. Esta fuera de contexto./Se sale de contexto. It's out of control. Esta fuera de control./ Se sale de control.

LoaEtayo and Albert - thank you. When I watch the Spanish football on telly tonight it will no longer bug me every time the hoardings flip over to that advertisement!
