what does "diga!"means? in the dictionary it said it means say! it doens't make any sense

its a conversation about reservation

diga! quisiera reservar una mesa por favor. si, senor, Para cuando? Para esta noche a las nueve y media. Cuantas personas? cuatro a nombre de quien, por favor? a nombre de Julio Amaral. Conforme, senor.

i get everything execpet for diga! part

It's from the verb: decir---try looking up the conjugation for this word and then post something back. We'll guide you from there. smile

Welcome to the forum. As Jason said, Diga is the imperative form of the verb Decir (to say). But it is used in many places when someone answers the telephone, like we say, "Hello", sort of a polite way of saying, "Talk to me".
