To drag someone down

I'm looking to say, "don't let him drag you down" - I'm thinking arrastrar is the verb I want. Or maybe I'm focusing too much on the word 'drag', but I'm having a hard time thinking of an alternative.
Any insights will be greatly appreciated.

If you mean "drag down" in the sense of "discourage" or "bum someone out", a verb would be "desanimar".
"No dejes que te desanime."
