Should be, "it makes it hard for me to communicate better with them" - pesta, Oct 1, 2010
Please properly capitalize your pronoun "I" - this is a learning site for Spanish and English. - pesta, Oct 1, 2010
Your post title should say, "...problem with the Spanish accent" - pesta, Oct 1, 2010
Also capitalise the beginning of a new sentence. Reasons as stated by Pesta. - Eddy, Oct 1, 2010

Like Janice said, it's always a matter of time. When I first arrived in the US for a school year, everything sounded like gibberish to me, and it was very frustrating. But at one point I suddenly started to understand things a lot better, so you just need a little patience. If anything, tell them to speak a little slower and vocalize correctly.

I think that if you listen a lot and "give yourself some time", your ear will soon be accustomed to the new accent.
