How to say "to be understood"

Question

Entender is to understand, I know. In my homework, though, I was supposed to translate "They never understood her." My best effort is "No la endendían nunca." Does that work, or am I missing something?

I would say:

Nunca la entendían.

And here's a couple of other examples:

they understand each other - se entienden mutuamente

I want to be understood. - Quiero ser entendido.
