how do you write out 1996 in spanish

My son's homework was to write out his entire birthday (day & date) in spanish and I'm trying to verify what he wrote. (Thursday, August 22, 1996)

I am only a beginner as well, but the only difference I would have had would have been to use a "de" in place of the second comma.

Jueves, el veintidós de Agosto de mil novecientos noventa y seis.

Hopefully, someone with more experience will confirm if one or the other is best, of if both are acceptable

also, veintidós requires an accent over the o
