Hola,

El grupo famoso Gipsy Kings tiene una canción 'Djobi Djoba'. Belle Perez, una cantora ( ¿una cantante?) belga tiene una con el título 'Djolei, Djolei' y tambien tiene una canción en que canta 'Chiquitan'. (son 2 canciones en español)

Pues aquí está mi pregunta : ¿Qué significan 'djobi, djoba', 'djolei', y 'chiquitan'?

(por favor corregid mi español)

Your Spanish is good. - cogumela, Sep 29, 2010
You can either say "una cantante" (singer) or "una cantautora" (songwriter). "Cantora" doesn't sound good ^^ - LoaEtayo, Sep 29, 2010

They don't have meaning at all.

The only I can say is they are purebreed, musical expressions. It sound like eo-lalalá-laleilo.

obí, obá, y olé olá, cada día te quiero máas obí obí obí obá... or... Chiquitán quiquiti-tan-tan-táaaan, te-que-te-que-tán. Chin Chán.

The Beatles had a song that went, "Oh-blah-di, oh-blah dah, life goes on...." it's very popular, you may have heard it. the "Oh-blah-di, oh-blah dah" part is totally nonsensical, it's just filler for the song to sound cute, etc., it has no meaning at all. The words in your song may be something like this. Not having heard it, I'm not sure, but it's just a suggestion.

Yes indeed, very small... But in this case, I think that this words were chosen basically for their sonority - cogumela, Sep 29, 2010

If it does mean something, it isn't in Spanish at least.

Djobi, djoba means Rigth here, rigth there, that´s why the song say "Djobi, Djoba, cada día yo te quiero más. ", that try to say "I love you more and more and everywhere".

I read a book written by one of the Gipsy Kings and I recall that they described themselves as Catalan. (Gitanos catelanas). Their lives and how their success evolved was very interesting.

I'm pretty sure by now it has no meaning but just sounds right.
