Qué vs Cuál
Since I've just reread the forum rules and realized I should have posted these questions in a separate thread, I'll put them here.
When you ask what someone's address is, do you use qué or cuál? I'm pretty sure you use qué since you're not making a decision. The question: Oye, Luis, ¿____ es la dirección de Juan Valdés?
When you are asking a sick person what their symptoms are, do you use qué or cuál? I think it's cuál in this instance since there are a pool of symptoms you can choose from, although I'm not sure on this one. The question: Señora, ¿___ síntomas tiene su bebé?

There are plenty of resources discussing this topic online.
And you can find previous threads on Qué vs Cuál by searching this forum's previous topics.
You examples mention Qué and Cuál (interrogrative pronouns) while your title is about que and cual. You will get different answers depending on which set that you are inquiring about.
I also recommend you check those links, however I can tell you right now that it isn't a good idea to think of "qué vs cuál" in those terms, "making a decision" or "choosing from a pool of options", you're likely to get the wrong one very often. Just as an example, depending on the way you arrange the second sentence you could use either one: "Señora, ¿qué síntomas tiene su bebé?" or "Señora, cuáles son los síntomas de su bebé?"
