¿_______ es su oficina? -Es ésa allí.

I'm tempted to say dónde, but it doesn't seem quite right in this context. If this sentence were spoken in English, I would want to say "Which one is your office?" since the answer is "It's that one there"

¿_______ descansas? -Por la tarde. I really have no idea what this one is trying to say. When do you rest?

¿_______ está el cine? -En esa calle. For this sentence, the "en" was bolded, meaning that my teacher wanted us to pay attention to it in the answer. The only answer I could think of was "En dónde", but does this even exist?

Also, if you're asking what the ingredients of some food are, do you use qúe or cuál? What about asking what someone's address is? Asking what the symptoms of a sick person are?

Sorry there are so many questions here, but I've got a test tomorrow and I'm cramming.

  1. Not dónde, because the answer would be está, not es. You're right. Not where, but which. Remember the tilde.
  2. Yes, "When do you rest?" "In the afternoon."
  3. Close. En dónde is a proper phrase, but you don't need the en, in this case.

Thanks for the help! But I have a few more questions. For #1, would it be que or cual? There seem to be a bunch of buildings in the area so I'm not sure if it's a decision which building is the right one, which would make it cual. - psyche_of_frogs, Sep 28, 2010
Also, for #1, do you mean accent? And for #3, when would you use en donde? - psyche_of_frogs, Sep 28, 2010
Third note: don't feel obligated to answer. I ask ten million questions and it can get annoying and inconvenient. - psyche_of_frogs, Sep 28, 2010
Cuál. There's a link somewhere around here that goes into gory details on the difference, and if you search for it you'll find it. But basically think qué = what?, cuál = which?. Oversimplified, but it works in this case - KevinB, Sep 28, 2010
Yes. Tilde in Spanish means both the accent mark and the squiggly over the ñ. En dónde is rather unusual, like "In where?". - KevinB, Sep 28, 2010
You ask good questions. I can tell you've put some thought into it and you're not just asking someone to do your homework for you. Keep asking. - KevinB, Sep 28, 2010
Qué usually is asking for a definition Cuál is asking which among several choice or what when not asking a definition - 0074b507, Sep 28, 2010
