Peruvian birthday

Hi, Please if someone could help me . I am trying to buy a birthday gift for a male friend of mine from Peru. Would a pen engraved with his name be a good gift? http://secure.iquiero.com/peru/product.asp?id=24876 I don't know the customs and do not want to get something wrong. Would chocolate be better? Thank you so much Terrie

Buy some lamb and cook it for him. A guy always loves food and Peruvians love lamb. You can get a Peruvian dish off the internet and surprise him.

It would help to know your age difference, your relationship with your friend, etc. to advise on a gift. I can't see how something as neutral as a monogrammed pen could lead to any misinterpretations or cross any cultural taboos.

I would make sure that I knew the local custom for inscribing names, however. As you are probably aware Spanish names aren't always just first and last as is the English custom.

If you go with chocolates I would make sure that he has no allergies. Being allergic to chocolate (or nuts if they are covered chocolates) is not a rare allergy.

¡Bienvenida al foro!

Love does not recognize borders, languages o race. Just give what you "feel" is good.
