I'm having a brain glitch and can't translate "The animate won Edelmann much fame." Would it be "La animada se ganaba a Edelmann mucha fama"?

Animate? You mean animation?. Anyhow, I'd translate it as "La animación le valió a Edelmann gran fama y reconocimiento"
