gratuito vs. gratis?
please explain to me the usage difference between these two words. Thank you. ![]()

Gratuito can mean gratis - free, costing nothing. But gratuito can also mean gratuitous, unfair, uncalled for. I hear gratis to mean free. I can't remember hearing gratuito spoken to mean free.
You can say: La clases son gratuitas. (Classes are free.) Also: Todos los servicios son gratuitos.(All services are free).
I used p;ural in both sentences and both mean free. ![]()
Isn't it easier to just check the dictionary? (the monolingual one, of course)
Both mean free of charge or free of interest, but gratuito also means gratuitous (what a surprise!)
