How to use SpanishDict best
hello all,
As a person new to SpanishDict, I am wondering if there is a resource that will tell me how to use the various parts. That is, how do i use the Flashcards or earn points or practice my own translation and reading skils?
Is there a reference source or a newbie guide available?
Muchas gracias,
Bruce Bumbalough

Some sites that I've seen have a section (usually) labeled "Tutorial" that is specifically aimed at introducing the facilities offered to newcomers. In our reference section, we have much of the same sorts of information but it's not specifically oriented to "hand-holding" for the newcomer.
On the other, hand, there is nothing to stop you/anyone from selecting various options from the drop-down menus to see what they are offering.
Welcome, Bruce
I have been here since July and I have to tell you that the folks here are not only a font of information, but are genuinely nice folks to be around. In addition to the things that you find under the "More" tab, we also have occasional Skype conversations, the ability to Private Message other members, and a search thread that will link you with just about any Spanish language question you can think of.
The 60 video lessons under the Learn Spanish tab are excellent.
Also check out the Game threads, esp. Preterite vs. Imperfect, por vs para, Use of the Subjunctive, etc. There's a game for any problem area you might run into.
There are a ton of flashcards and you can make your own.
The word of the day comes with two practice sentences.
In short, if you really want to learn Spanish, you can do it here!
As far as getting points, you get learning points by doing lessons and flashcards, reputation points by involvement with the Forum, and badges for accomplishments large and small on both fronts.
Hope to see you around!
Welcome to the site, Bruce!
Yes, indeed, there is a complete reference guide, with all kinds of helpful information. Click on the "more" menu item at the top of the page, then click "reference." You'll see a list of reference categories. At the bottom is one called "technical support and learning resources." Click on that and you'll see dozens of topics to help you with the site.
Here's your shortcut to get there now: click here.
Again, welcome! Have fun exploring the site!
I have never seen any complete explanation. I just clicked on the links on top and started exploring.
I started with the learn spanish videos and when I saw that I could earn points that is the last my family saw of me for the rest of the week. The flashcards are embedded in the learn Spanish lessons. It took a little while before I understood how the flashcard sets function. After a few lessons I tried the forum. You are a little ahead on that since you posted here first.
Just post any troubles you encounter here. When people see you learning and picking up points, they will answer your questions and gently help you along.
Go ahead the site won't bite or at least if it does it heals quickly.
Oh yea, don't give up.
