No me pongas eso así

No me pongas eso así

I wonder about the "me" in there. I think "no pongas eso así" is "don't put that there like that" and I think the "me" makes it "don't put that there like that in front of me / on me". Gracias por su respuesta..........amigo.

That "me" is colloquial and doesn't have a direct translation, other than phrases like "on me", "for me", and sometimes just "me".. The following examples illustrate how it is used:

No te me mueras = Do not die on me

Podrías hacerme esto = Could you do this for me?

Basically, it suggests that whatever you do is going to affect me somehow.

Es una interferencia del gallego-portugués, un pronombre "afectivo"que indica confianza. ¡No me dirás que no! - cogumela, Sep 24, 2010

En este caso "me" aumenta el sentido del Yo.-> No me(sobretodo a mi) pongas eso así.

En "no pongas eso así", al no estar "me", es más general, "no pongas(para mí y para todos) eso así".
