"I have been a member for a long time"
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for the correct preposition (I think it's a preposition I'm looking for) to insert in this sentence:
Although I have been a member for a long time, I have not participated very much.
Aunque llevo mucho tiempo (??) miembro, no he participado mucho (or would bastante be better here, to convey the feeling that I've not participated as much as I've liked?)
So I'm thinking that where the question mark are should go either "como" or "de" but not sure which. Como is the direct translation for "as", but just doesn't sound quite right to me. De does not work well as a direct translation but I think I've seem it used by natives in similar situations.
Can anyone help out?
Thanks.

I would say "como un miembro" for "as a member" or "he sido un miembro" for "I have been a member". I agree with jeezle, bastante doesn't fit well here.
Not native, and I could be wrong, but como sounds good to me. De sounds bad. Siendo might even work although it is odd there, but sounds right, maybe a native can confirm. Bastante usually strikes me as "plenty" more than "enough" so I don't know if it would fit. Good thread though, I'm sure I look forward to many better answers than my sorry excuse.
