It's rather ambiguous. This is one of those occasions where adding a clarification tag or a subject pronoun would have been helpful.
le había gustado [ella] could mean "she had pleased it" or it had liked her.
or
le había gustado [a ella] could mean "it had pleased her" or that "she had liked being seen."
