what does 'quedo'=quiet/soft has to do with stay for ever?

the famous song 'sweet baby' - erreway presents a phrase:

"besame me quedo de por vida"

which translates by machine to - "kiss me ill stay for life"

and "quedo de por vida" translates to "stay for life"/

where is the meaning of quiet/still/soft/gentle?

You are talking about different words. "Quedo" can be an adjective like you say (quiet, soft), but it can also be a conjugated form of the verb "quedar", "yo quedo". This is the use of the this word in that sentence, and the meaning is "to remain", though it can also mean other things.

Hi, welcome to the forum. "Quedo" in this sense has nothing to do w/quiet/soft. It's from the verb "quedar" in this case. If it were used in a different context as an adjective then it would be quiet/soft. Spanish is like English in that some words have several different meanings and you have to look at the context to know which one it is.

Quedo is from the verb 'Quedarse' = to stay , remain and is of course conjugated for /to the 1st person singular I

The words translate as Kiss me I'll stay for ever (for life)

quedo/a adj = (voz/voice) soft, quiet

quedo adv = softly, quietly

I don't know this song but perhaps the words quiet /still /gentle are found in different lyrics within the same song?

I hope this helps smile

The whole line should be written as "bésame {y} me quedo de por vida", which can be translated as Kiss me {and} I will stay forever
