Is there another expression for however?
Hola,
I am writing a practice piece for my Spanish course and I was wondering if there was another way of saying "however". I have used "sin embargo" in my work but do not want to keep repeating it.
Would anyone be prepared to have a look at my work which is a letter to a friend, pointing out any mistakes and ways to improve the structure. I will not put it here as it's rather long but could send it to you if agreeable.
Thank you
Neil

some alternatives:
sin embargo
pero (but)
no obstante {lo cual} (notwithstanding)
a pesar de - despite aunque - although pero - but no obstante - nevertheless
They all mean pretty much the same thing but I suppose that, as in English, the use differs when you want to be more formal or informal. Nevertheless and however are a bit more formal and despite is neutral in English. I'm guessing this is the same in Spanish.
obstante = however
I can attempt to review your work at my ability, if you want, but however I am not fluent.
My mother offered to look at it, as she is fluent. If you are interested, PM me the letter
No obstante also means however.
Hi Neil I'd like to have a look at your letter, how can I? Let me know Thanks
