Is It Only Great Britain Where Drunks Are Found?
My country is fast becoming known as "Booze Britain" which I do not particularly like. Well it's so nice to see that we are not the only country introducing "Happy Hour" drinking sessions. As a matter of interest, I had never heard of the Marula tree, so I must plant one sometime. Enjoy the video.

I don't think that you need anything that exotic. Just about any fruit tree would suffice. We used to have several large apple trees in our back yard. Guess whose job it was to rake up apples every day in the Fall after school? When you stack them in a pile they rot and ferment quite nicely. And where there is rotting fruit there are bees. I often wondered if the bees got inebriated from drinking the fermenting apple juice.
There are some parts of the United States where the regular consumption of alcohol at bars and restaurants after work or during work is very, very common. But in other parts of the country, as in the south, where I live, the old taboos of the Temperance Society era still exist. It is not possible in the county where I live to purchase beer, wine, or liquor in a restaurant. Purchasing alcoholic beverages in a restaurant or bar is known as "liquor by the drink" and in Tennessee that must be approved by the voters in each county. Our county has resisted that and is therefore known as a "dry" county.
But don't let that fool you. Beer (though not wine or hard liquor) is for sale in every grocery and convenience store in the county, and drunk driving is prevalent, as is drinking in homes and at private parties. There is a very high alcoholism and addiction rate here and a major problem with teenagers not old enough to legally consume alcohol nevertheless doing so.
I suspect the problem exists everywhere that alcohol is available, just to varying degrees and in different forms. And if you include drug abuse and addiction with alcohol abuse, we have a truly epidemic problem right here in my own little rural Tennessee county.
When it comes to party animals, it looks like the jungle dwellers are much more fun than the domestic variety. ![]()

I'm from Great Britain too and I hate the drinking culture of our country. Why do a minority of Brits (though still a fair number) feel the need to go out on night and get completely "wasted"??? It completely ruins the image of our country and it is grossly unjust that the minority have meant that GB is fast becoming branded as "Booze Britain".
Very cute video, thanks for sharing it!
