Use of "Lo que"

Question

Please could you have a look at my translation below. I am trying to write an article for my course and am not sure if my translation makes sense in Spanish. In particular the use of "Lo que" in my heading. My course says you can use Lo que to single something out or to emphasise something.

What I am trying to say is: It seems to me that nearly every day a new product is advertised on television, especially in the field of information technology. I think many people would enjoy reading about new technologies and I suggest we include a section called “What’s new in IT?”

Me parece que casi todos los días un nuevo producto se anuncia en la televisión, especialmente en la tecnología de la información. Creo que mucha gente quisiera leer sobre las nuevas tecnologías y sugiero que incluyamos una sección se llama "¿Lo que nuevo en la informática?"

Everything is fine, except that "lo que." You'd have to say "¿Qué es nuevo en la informática?", but I'd suggest something like "Novedades en informática" or "¿Qué novedades hay en informática?"

Hmmm.... I think that "Lo que" doesn't sound too good in this case, Neil. Anyway, grammatically is quite good! So my reccomendation is focused about styling aspects.

I give you an oppinion, but obviously, this can be said in a lot of different ways.

Parece que casi todos los días se anuncia en la televisión algún producto nuevo, especialmente en el campo de las tecnologías de la información. Pienso que a mucha gente le gustaría leer acerca de este tema, por lo que sugiero que incluyamos una sección que podría llamarse ¿Qué es lo último en Informática?

Me parece que casi todos los días hay un nuevo producto que se anuncia en la televisión, especialmente en el campo de la tecnología de la información. Creo que mucha gente quisiera leer sobre las nuevas tecnologías y sugiero que incluyamos una sección se llama "¿Qué hay de nuevo en la informática?"

"Hay + que" may sounds better, but the original is also correct. "El campo de" sounds definitely better (the original is not wrong, though), but you need to say "...de la tecnología..." - lazarus1907, Sep 19, 2010
