We learn a two page dialogue, a new one each week. I am having trouble remembering lines and I get them confused with different parts of the dialogue. I was just hoping to find a good method of learning these instead of just reading and reciting over and over.

One of the most difficult things for me to do is memorize words for recital later. One of the things that really helped me as I progressed in Spanish was to remember the ideas and/or concepts, then I would make an outline of those ideas. I would then be able to put into my own words the exact same ideas. The key is being able to think in Spanish to be able to do this. If you have to recite exactly what you have had to memorize, may the force be with you because I don't know how to do that without 'reading and reciting over and over'.

These particular dialogues are verbatim but your reply makes great sense. I recall one of the instructors saying something about thinking in ideas and not just translating as you read or listen. I wil definately work on doing this more. Thanks a lot! - ryan8353, Sep 18, 2010

Try blinking really fast as you read. It will help you visualize the page later if you close your eyes. Then it comes to practice.
