To find out

I always used the word averiguar to mean to find out. Today I came across the word enterar. I looked them up in the dictionary and im just wondering if one of these are used more frequently than the other or are there any subtle differences that I might be missing?

I don't know which is used more frequently, but personally, I use 'averiguar' more in the sense of 'to determine' and 'enterar' in the sense of 'finding out' something.
