I saw something in "(upside down exclamation mark)ahora si' " about the vast UT Latin-American collection of historical documents which stated that it was acquired in 1920 in a "toma de protesta" from presidente Obero'n. Does that mean it was stolen from him?

"toma de protesta" refers to the specific oath of office that an elected official makes when he is officially sworn in.

Our phrase book has tomar protesta as a "swearing of oath" translation. I think it means that the year president Oberón was sworn in he made the documents public.
