In Spain you can use "coger" rather than "cosechar", it sounds a lot more natural: eg: "voy a coger manzanas del árbol". However, outside Spain it isn't a good idea to use the verb "coger", as even though it is a common word in Spain, it has a vulgar meaning in many latin american countries.
