Are you asking about the word 'fruit' in English? If so, it is both. For example, you can say, "Many different fruits are grown in the region." Apples are a fruit, pears are a fruit, both are grown there, so different fruits are grown there. However, you can have "a bowl full of fruit" (it has 3 apples in it). It is not full of 1 apple. Other example sentences:

"He eats a lot of fruit."

"She doesn't like fruit."

"Fruit is good for you."

"All the fruit fell off the shelf and got bruised."
