I think, from looking up the words seperately and my conjugations, it would be :
"Leer es importante porque perfecciona la mente."
And according to online translations the answer is :
"Leer es importante porque desarrolla la mente."
Because:
Leer = to read
es = form of estar (to be)
importante = important
porque = because
perfecciona = form of perfeccionar (to develop)
desarrolla = form of desarrollar (to develop)
la mente = the mind
