Is there a difference in the meanings of cuentakilómetros and velocímetros?

Just looking at the words and not looking them up, I would say that cuentakilómetros is odometer and velocímetros is your speedometer.
According to our dictionary, however, cuentakilómetros can be either odometer or speedometer.
cuentakilómetros=literally, kilometer counter
