Would you use the subjunctive form of "poder"?

No. "I believe" is a fact, so you don't need subjunctive. You would for "I don't believe", however. - KevinB, Sep 14, 2010
You use indicative when you give your opinion (or guess) about something. If you start a sentence with "I think...", why would you avoid the indicative? Using the subjunctive would be like sayi "I think that... but I don't want to say what I think" - lazarus1907, Sep 14, 2010

But is Creo + infinive always incorrect? I have just read the following: "Lindsey creyo comprenderlo" Is this wrong? Sorry, unable to do accents on my mobile! Thanks for any enlightenment! Andrew

No, it is not always incorrect. See examples here Creo estar....http://spanish.about.com/od/infinitives/a/infinitives_after_verbs.htm - 0074b507, Sep 26, 2010
creer (to believe) — No creo estar exagerando. (I do not believe I am exaggerating.) - 0074b507, Sep 26, 2010

Your first example is right, Creo que puedo ir. I think I can go.
