I was asked: What is the meaning of sharp-eyed in paragraph three and what is its grammatical function? maybe someone could help me. Thanks a lot An example of a loose mutualistic association is the tickbird –rhinoceros relationship. The tickbird feeds on skin parasites of the rhinoceros, and in return the latter is relieved of irritation and obtains warning of danger when the sharp-eyed bird flies off temporarily to the security of the nearest tree

Sharp-eyed is an adjective modifying bird. I think it means that the bird has very clear bright eyes and is observing everything very closely.
