Beginners chat Saturday, 18th September: gustar

Another chat is planned for this following Saturday, 12 am Spain, so if you are interested, sign upwink (let's see if my neighbour is not hereraspberry)

the topic this week will be all about gustar.

Have a look at this compilation : All about gustar

It is essential you do the flashcard set! The use of gustar is complicatedwink

So, the idea is:

1) you supply a question in English

2) the next person translates it and answers (two sentences at least)

3) this person supplies a new question.

Example:

Do you like children?

¿Te gustan los niños? Sí, me gustan mucho los niños. Tengo dos hijos, una niña y un niño.

New question.....

Try to use the interrogative pronouns:What does your husband like to eat? Where do you like diving? jeje, yesero, esa para tiraspberry

Please, if you want to participate, you must pay attention, the other day I asked one of the members like a dozen times and he was doing something else. Everybody wants to speak, so we must be patient, and be at least so kind as to listen to everybodywink

Ok, Members already in: Yesero, Echoline, Marianne, Sandy, Jason, Meli, Greg, hitchens, foxluv, vaanz, schemmn

I am not sure I had fun but boy did I learn a lot. I was way too nervous to have fun but at least I was able to laugh along with all the other victims. This made me realize where I stand on my quest to learn the language and I now know I have a long road ahead of me. Learning the vocabulary and verbs is not enough especially when you are asked a question in spanish and have to respond without holding up the group for more than a few minutes (in spanish). Heidi is a hard taskmaster and she rings a bell and says "time is up" so on to the next victim. Of course I am being facetious since it was a great 2 hours and believe me how that time just flew by. And....we now know "gustar" upside down and backwards so this group meeting was very successful.

Please do not forget me! I did a PM last week to you Heidita and you did give a thumbs up. Also I am sooo depressed about my conversation abilities. I had to drop my school class since all the students were leaving me in the dust. My teacher said I talked like a translation machine. zipper
