Just wondering how to use agradecer... When I want to thank someone, is that "someone" a direct object of thanking or an indirect object?

Gracias!

The reason why you are thanking someone with "agradecer" is the direct object. The person who "receives your thanks" is the indirect object:

Agradezco el favor - Lo agradezco

Te agradezco el favor - Te lo agradezco

Le agradezco que haya venido - Se lo agradezco

Hey, welcome to the forum

"Te agradezco."

You need to use indirect objects : me , te , le , nos , os , les before the verb agradecer if you want to thank someone. smile
