In a kitchen you may have a section of countertop in the middle. In english it's called an island, but I wonder if they have a different word in spanish?

I think we call that mesada in Argentina (la mesada de la cocina) but it´s usually on one side or corner of the kitchen, so island would not apply.

I've always heard of it as "isla", same as in English.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

I know that "isla" is the Spanish equivalent for island. However, I'm not sure if Spanish speaking people refer to this kitchen feature in a different way or not.

I'm sure someone will come along with the answer soon. I hope you enjoy your time in the forum. smile
